Blogmas Day 11: Christmas Tag

IMG_5689.JPG

Thank you Natalie for nominating me to do the Christmas Tag ! Make sure you check out her amazing blog: www.nataliehansonblog.wordpress.com ! At the end of this post, I will list other blogs that I am nominating to complete this tag.

 Here we go:

What is your favorite Christmas Movie?

I would have to name “Home Alone” as my favorite Christmas Movie. It’s just a great movie for kids and adults and it’s funny. Like I mentioned in another post, my sister used to play this movie every day until it was finally Christmas. Don’t forget to check out my Blogmas Day 1 post to see a list of my other favorite Christmas movies!

Have you ever had a “WHITE” Christmas?

Uhhhh! Duh lol A “WHITE” Christmas in New Jersey is like a must have. Don’t get me wrong I hate the snow. It’s all fun and games when you’re a little kid and you want to build a snowman. But when you’re older it’s like you have to shovel and make sure you get to work regardless of how bad the snow storm is. Take me back to the days when I didn’t have responsibilities! Lol

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

When I lived back at home with my parents, I would have Christmas there with my siblings and a few relatives. Now that I’m a bit older we have been celebrating at my sister’s house. She has 3 kids so we tend to spend it at her house to celebrate and have them open their presents. We’re all getting to the age where we don’t care too much about presents but more about spending time together as a family. So, we leave the excitement for my nephews.

What is your favorite Christmas song?

I have a couple of favorites but I always love listening to the different versions of “Santa Baby”. I feel like this song is just so cute. I love the Jhene Aiko one that I mentioned in a previous post, Blogmas Day 6. Eartha Kitt’s version is also great and has a very sexy tone. Mariah Carey always does a great job at singing Christmas jingles so you already know her version is really good.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Yes I do! So, I’m Dominican and our tradition is to celebrate the holiday on Christmas Eve, December 24th. We normally have a nice dinner and then open our gifts. We’ve kind of modernized the tradition a bit the last couple of years and saved most of the presents to be open on Christmas Day. This is really to just get my nephews into the habit of waiting for the actual day to get their gifts.

Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeers?

Ummmm lol about that. I am the worst with stuff like this. And I promise I won’t cheat. Here we go: Blitzen, Prancer, Dancer, Rudolph, Donner… That’s it from me. I know I didn’t get them all. You can list the rest down below lol Help a girl out!

What Holiday Traditions are you looking forward to this year?

I guess this year I am looking forward to hopefully starting a brand new tradition. Now that I have my own place I want to make sure I create my own holiday traditions. I already started with the decorations. But now I can exchange gifts with CB. Haven’t had that in over 2 years! And I hope to possibly go to dinner on Christmas Day. Like I said I still celebrate Christmas the day before, so on the day of the 25th it would be nice to have a cute dinner with CB. *crossing my fingers* hopefully I can make that happen.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

My Christmas tree is fake. I’ve never had a real Christmas tree and I think that’s just what I’m used to. I don’t really care too much for it. You can still decorate a fake tree just as nice without dealing with maintenance. Also, I don’t have a basement for storage or anything so I wouldn’t even know where to put the tree if it was real lol.

What is your favorite holiday treat/food/sweet?

For the holidays, my favorite sweet has to be Christmas decorated cookies! I’m not a sweets type of person but around the holiday I feel like you can’t go wrong with milk and cookies. And hot chocolate! I don’t normally like really hot things but some hot chocolate and marshmallows are the best during these snow days.

Do you like GIVING or RECEIVING gifts better?

Honestly, I think everyone knows that I love GIVING gifts. I’m in no way a materialistic person at all. Memories to me mean more than anything. I can buy the things I want for myself. So, I really do love splurging on others. The look on someone’s face when they know you really took your time to get them their gift is priceless. I’m excited now just thinking about the gifts I’m getting for people. I can’t wait to see the look on their faces.

What is the BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT you ever received?

Wow! I can’t even remember if this was for Christmas lol even though I’m pretty sure it was! I applied for an internship to take pictures for College Fashionista while I was attending Rutgers and I needed a camera. So, my mom, sister and brother all chipped in to get me a DSLR Canon Rebel T3 camera! Honestly, I couldn’t believe they spend all that money. I was in college at the time so I really didn’t have enough to get it myself. I still have that camera today and I love it.

What is your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I don’t really going anywhere for the holiday season. This year for some reason I really wanted to go to Washington, D.C. I have only been there once in my life. And I didn’t get to explore it the way I wanted to. I just want to go to museums and artsy places. It would be great to see it covered in snow to get the full effect.

Are you a PRO present wrapper or do you FAIL miserably?

I’m actually not that bad at wrapping presents. I might mess up on the first one but I get the hang of it. I really learned how to wrap presents from my mom. And when all else fails you can just buy a Christmas bag and put the presents in it.

Most Memorable Christmas memory.

My favorite Christmas memory has to be the funniest one yet! I actually thought about this the other day and I started laughing all over again. There was one year at my parent’s house where we did “Secret Santa” for the first time. And it was my sister’s turn to open her gift and it was in a nice jewelry box. The funny thing was that it was COAL! Lol her husband (Jaime) got coal from the grill outside and gave it to her as a gift. She was laughing so hard but probably sad on the inside. He ended up giving her a real present though afterwards which was a Pandora bracelet. The next present was for Jaime’s sister. She wanted a Macbook Pro so bad! And Jaime took the box from my Macbook Pro, wrapped it and put a small soccer ball chocolate inside. Lol When I tell you his sister cried, like I felt sooooo bad. We all knew the joke but she really got excited about it. It’s safe to say Jaime has stopped his antics for Christmas.

When do you start getting excited Christmas?

I got excited by December 1st and it could have been mainly because I did #blogmas this year. Normally a week before Christmas is when I really start getting in the holiday spirit because it’s crunch time in terms of getting presents.

Use one noise to describe how excited you are for Christmas.

Eeeeeehhhmmmmmmm *CB voice* lol an insider but I promise it holds a lot of excitement.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Spending time with my family and loved ones makes the holidays extremely special for me! We don’t always have time for each other because of work so it’s nice to catch up with what’s going on in our life and just have fun.

Do you make any New Year’s Resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I don’t necessarily write my New Year’s Resolutions down. I really just keep commitments noted in my head. The most I try to commit to is making sure I keep up with fitness and just keep doing my best with work. There aren’t many things I would change because I’m growing and learning still. So, I won’t know what to do until the time comes. So I just hope to learn from my mistakes and do better as each year passes.

Wow. That was a mouth full! I felt really happy just writing this post. I can’t believe I have come this far in #blogmas. It’s so hard to post every day when you work a full time job. Shout out to everyone who has being doing this with me!

I will list a few blogs I follow to complete this "Christmas Tag" with me. Don’t forget to tag me in your post so I can read them!
