Big Snow
/Have you ever been snowboarding? Because I guess there is a first time for everything, right? I finally had the chance to go about 2 weeks ago and I had so much fun.
Leading up to it, I was definitely super anxious and nervous. I mean, I’m athletic but I just didn’t know what to expect. Adam sent me a bunch of Youtube videos to make sure I knew the basics, but watching a tutorial and actually snowboarding are 2 different things.
But let’s back track a bit. We were invited to go snowboarding with Adam’s friend Teddy and his girlfriend, Nilajah, at Big Snow at American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ. I’ve never actually been to this mall, but it’s new and they have so many other attractions there like the Nickelodeon studio 🤔.
On their website, you have to reserve your 2-hour time slot and pick your package. We chose the Snow Day Package for $69. This includes all of your equipment: jacket, pants, snow boots, snowboard/skis, and helmet. The only thing you should bring is a mask and gloves. I ordered my gloves through Amazon.
So when you get there, you check in and get suited up with the equipment and then you are free to start snowboarding or skiing depending on which one you selected. They have instructors on site as well in case you need help getting the basics down. I mean luckily I watched some Youtube videos beforehand so I pretty much had the gist of what I needed to do.
I wasn’t as bad as I thought I was going to be. Of course I fell a couple of times but I did pretty good for it being my first time on a snowboard. That is checked off my bucket list!
But now I want to go snowboarding again! We are hoping to plan a snowboarding trip in PA soon. This would be great to have a full on experience for a weekend. But Big Snow is definitely a great start to see what it’s like and if you should purchase your own equipment or continue renting wherever you go.
